Where No Signature Dish Is Needed

Each restaurant should have its own signature dish. But Studio Kitchen believes otherwise. For them, it is not important to have one; what is important is the quality of the food they are serving.

Don’t be deceived by this minimalist restaurant because it will surely surprise you. Upon entering, the white walls, classy tables, and chairs will welcome you. It feels like being in a place that promises comfort and good food. And indeed, good food, relaxation, and comfort were provided for everyone present.

Located at Alabang, one good reason to visit Studio Kitchen is the good food they serve. You will surely forget about everything else when you get to taste what they have to offer. No exaggeration intended, but you could even forget that you are in a posh restaurant. Studio Kitchen successfully gave fine dining a whole new definition.

As a personal venture for Chef Mark, Studio Kitchen doesn’t aim to be a bestseller. It was never planned that way. All that he wants is to have a restaurant that could give its customers a combination of all stuff, of all categories. He wants to do everything with his assistant cooks to make sure that everything will be done the right way.

Fresh Crab Salad
Fresh Garden Salad

As a start, we were served the Fresh crab saladfresh crab, Granny Smith Apple Mash, Piquillo, Basil, Espelette, Fresh Wasabi, and the Fresh Green Saladfresh crispy vegetables, Balsamic dressing, cherry tomatoes, aged balsamic, mesclun greens.

Presentation alone, the fresh crab salad nails it! You will even think twice upon eating it because it just looks so good. Every bite of the crab meat sends shivers down my spine. It is just pure goodness. The fresh crab flesh is tender and flavorful. It is in perfect combination with the greens.

And honestly, one plate is not enough to indulge. The good thing about this salad is that the wasabi is not that overwhelming. Not even a hint of it can be tasted. It does not overpower the natural taste of the fresh crab. The fresh green salad, on the other hand, looks delectable. I was not disappointed at all. The crunchy vegetables in the salad are a sure hit for everyone.

After the cold starters, the entrees were served. Honestly, I felt my jaw drop when I saw the platters served before me. Like the starters, the presentation of the entrees was to die for.

The Dutch veal Cheeks, the Maple Glazed Pork Belly, and the Braised US Beef Short Rib have something in common. The beef and the pork is so soft that you won’t need to use a knife for it. And if ever you use a knife, it will just glide as if the meat knows it doesn’t need to be sliced. Aside from being soft and easy to chew, it is also delectable. The Dutch Veal Cheeks is a personal favorite. Yum!

Surf and Turf

Prawns, Ox Tongue, Baby Artichokes, Confit Cherry Tomatoes, Ox Tongue Duelle Ravioli, Tomato Gastrique

The seafood entrees served are consistent in taste with all that was served. Just when we thought that the night was done, we were given great-tasting food.

Laiskonis “Egg”

Chocolate Pot de crème, Maple Syrup, Caramel Sauce, Caramel Foam, Maldon Salt

Personally, I would want to call this “the egg surprise”. Well, why not? I was totally surprised when I first saw it, and I was even more surprised when I tasted it. It is not that sweet, and the combination of the maple syrup with the caramel sauce is not that overwhelming. The Laikonis egg is the perfect dessert after a heavenly meal. When eating this, we were instructed to scoop all the way down in order to taste everything there was in the egg.
