Dining Over Candles & Coffee

A haven of candles and coffee – plus lots of yummy desserts – will welcome you at the Candlelight Cafe.

The facade will not give you any idea what the inside would look like, but we assure you that this will be a pleasurable surprise.

Upon entering, the cozy seats, the candles, and the aromatic smell of desserts and coffee will tell you that you are at the right place at the right time. There is no turning back because this is the place where your sweet tooth and your perfectionist’s tummy will surely be spoiled.

Owners Marichu and Morten Carstensen greeted everyone with smiles as they talked about the Candlelight Cafe. This cafe is not just the usual cafe because here, four different elements unite: Coffee, Food, Candles, and Art. Your eyes and tummy will be surely full.

For starters, the friendly baristas served their Carrot Cake. Everyone liked it so much because it is moist, soft and not too plain. The Candlelight Cookie was also commendable. The thickness is just right to make it easier to eat. The sweetness and the saltiness is perfect.

An array of drinks followed afterwards. The Candlelight Cafe brags into making uniquely refreshing drinks that will distinguish it from the other coffee shops that we all know. There was the Caramel Frappe, Strawberry Smoothieand the best drink of them all, the Chai Milk Tea. Not to forget the Picasso – which was named after painter Picasso, was a truly artistic drink that will surely make its mark on your taste buds. (Hint: Order this for a fusion of fruits!)

At Candlelight Cafe, Marichu and Morten never stops creating dishes that their patrons will love. The Rigatoni with Tuna, Morten’s own recipe of pasta with sour creamy white sauce. This is not the end of it because you have the choice if you want to add more of the sauce that Morten, himself, has created. A piece of warning for those trying this: IT IS VERY ADDICTING

The Candlelight Cafe spaghetti named Mortenese is something that you should never miss when visiting the cafe. This is the original recipe of Morten and everyone seemed to love it. The sauce is just perfect with the pasta and one won’t help but notice the unique mix of the sweetness of Filipino-style sauce with that of the sour Italian-style flavor. Aside from the Mortenese, there is also the Lasagna, made by Marichu. Somehow, it has a hint of Mortenese in it, except that the pasta is different.

Rice meals at The Candlelight Cafe are somewhat new because there came a time when their patrons were looking for dishes that could be paired with rice. Morten and Marichu then came up with dishes that would satisfy everyone, and that would make the cafe stand out more. According to Morten, the Filipinos just can’t live without rice, so they started serving the Adobo sa Gata and Pork Humba

The Pork Humba was surprisingly good. The sweetness is just right, and the pork is very soft that you won’t need a knife to cut it up. There is no hard time chewing it. On the other hand, the Adobo sa Gata was something promising. The original recipe was made by the Carstensen themselves.

When you are at The Candlelight Cafe, you can also have your own hat party or buy cute candles from Doc’s Candles. This cafe is really something extraordinary, and you wouldn’t want to miss going here.
